The Internal Control Unit at the Royal Jordanian Geographical Center wins the Sharjah Prize in Public Finance - the second session (2022-2023) in the institutional category/entity distinguished by control, auditing, and financial risk management. This participation in the prize, which is being arranged by the Central Financial Department in the UAE Emirate of Sharjah in collaboration with the Arab Organization for Administrative Development of the League of Arab States, is the first of its type in the Arab world. During a ceremony conducted at the Palace of Culture in the Emirate of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Sharjah, honored Brigadier General Muammar Kamel Haddadin the Director General of the Royal Jordanian Geographical Center. Brigadier General Haddadin said during the honoring ceremony: "The fact that the Geographical Center won the Sharjah Award in Public Finance is evidence of its outstanding performance in the regulatory and financial aspects and an appreciation for its distinguished efforts at the institutional and individual levels, which represents a high achievement for the Center and recognition of its high and effective performance." The Director General thanked the award's organizers and expressed gratitude for their tremendous efforts in promoting and facilitating government agencies' implementation of financial management functions in accordance with the highest standards of excellence in order to achieve sustainable development and the best possible use and preservation of public funds. The award, which was established in 2016, aims to honor outstanding individuals in the field of public money management, recognize the efforts of distinguished Arab financial institutions, and promote the best possible use of financial resources using the best administrative and financial systems. The second round of the award, in its institutional and individual categories, witnessed the participation of 14 Arab countries, namely Jordan, the Emirates, Palestine, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Syria, Iraq, and Egypt.
