The Director of Public Security, Major General Dr. Obaidallah Al-Maaytah, met on Sunday with participants of the Defense Course (23) at the Royal Jordanian National Defense College (RJNDC), during a lecture he delivered entitled “The Public Security Strategy and Its Position within National Security.”During the lecture, Major General Al-Maaytah affirmed that the concept of national security, in its comprehensive dimensions, is based on the integration of roles among all national institutions to ensure the protection of supreme national interests and preserves the security and stability of the State. He highlighted the importance of the citizen’s role as a key partner within the community security framework.The Director of Public Security explained that the development and modernization witnessed by the Public Security Directorate in its security and policing systems, as well as the level of humanitarian and community services it provides, are the result of the support and attention it receives from His Majesty the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, King Abdullah II, like all State institutions, foremost among them the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army. This support has been reflected in the national journey, through which the country has become more advanced and modern.Major General Al-Maaytah noted that the concept of security is no longer limited to the traditional security and policing aspect alone, but now encompasses multiple fields such as cybersecurity, combating cybercrime, protecting vulnerable groups, and community awareness. These areas collectively integrate to achieve national stability and sustainable development.He further clarified that the Directorate continues to develop its tools and various means based on accurate field studies and analyses that take into account local and regional variables, adopting a scientific approach to anticipate risks and address challenges before they occur, within a framework of effective partnership with State institutions and civil society, thereby enhancing community security and social peace.For his part, the Commandant of the Royal Jordanian National Defense College, Brigadier General Imad Al-Btoosh, commended the efforts exerted by the Public Security Directorate across its various security fields, and its prominent role in reinforcing the concept of comprehensive security and responding rapidly to different events affecting society.At the conclusion of the lecture, which was attended by a number of senior Public Security officers, the President and members of the Faculty of Guidance, and participants of Defense Course (23), Major General Al-Maaytah answered questions and inquiries from the audience.
