Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited the Directorate of Border Security new headquarters in Tabarbour to inspects its readiness and review the ongoing operations and preparations. During the visit, Maj. Gen. Al-Huneiti was briefed by the Director of Border Security on the tasks and responsibilities of the directorate, as well as the modernization and development efforts undertaken to enhance its operational capabilities. This includes equipping the Directorate with the necessary devices and equipment to maintain the highest levels of readiness. In the presence of the Assistant for Operations and Training and several senior officers from the Jordan Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Al-Huneiti emphasized the General Command's commitment to supporting the Directorate by providing it with the latest technological advancements and equipment. He commended the role of the Directorate of Border Security personnel in monitoring and securing the Kingdom’s borders, particularly in thwarting infiltration and smuggling attempts. During the visit, Al-Huneiti reviewed the strategic plans being implemented by the Directorate to ensure the safety and stability of the Kingdom’s border fronts. He stressed the importance of integrating efforts between military zones and security agencies to effectively address potential security challenges and maintain national security and stability. The Directorate of Border Security, in cooperation with military regions and various security bodies, has successfully thwarted 61 infiltration and smuggling attempts since the beginning of this year. Additionally, 204 drones attempting illegal border crossings were intercepted, and significant quantities of narcotics were seized—including 37.325 kilograms of various kinds of drugs, over 3 million narcotic pills, and 8,834 palm-sized packs of hashish—preventing these substances from threatening Jordan’s national security.
