Today, Tuesday, Armed Forces held Ramadan iftar gatherings for military retirees and veterans across its various formations and units. This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to keep in touch with them in appreciation of their dedicated service in defending and serving the nation.

During his meeting with military retirees at the Armed Forces Hotel, Maj. Gen. Al-Hunaiti welcomed them and conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, along with his pride in their service. Al-Hunaiti noted that the Ramadan gathering during this holy month reflects the Armed Forces' commitment to following up on their affairs. He also stressed that these meetings have become a good tradition and a firmly established approach adopted by the General Command of the Armed Forces, under royal directives, to keep in touch with military retirees. 

Maj. Gen. Al-Hunaiti indicated that the strong bond between those currently serving in the Armed Forces and their retired colleagues has played a significant role in achieving remarkable accomplishments that are widely recognized. These contributions have helped in the development of the Armed Forces, bringing them to a high level of modernization, efficiency, and readiness. He further emphasized that, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, and with the awareness of the people and the vigilance of the Armed Forces and security agencies, Jordan is capable of confronting the various challenges facing the Kingdom and moving forward in building Jordan and achieving its progress in all fields.

For his part, the Director-General of the Economic and Social Institution for Military Retirees and Veterans, retired Major General Adnan Al-Raqad, thanked the Armed Forces for their continuous support of military retirees. He also expressed gratitude for the kind gesture of organizing the annual Ramadan iftar, emphasizing its importance in linking the past with the present and providing an opportunity to exchange memories with comrades in duty and service.

Maj. Gen. Al-Hunaiti, along with the attendees, performed the Maghrib prayer in congregation.

For their part, the assistants to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the unit commanders, during their meeting with the military retirees and veterans in their respective areas, explained that these invitations were extended in appreciation of the comrades-in-arms for the efforts they exerted and the great sacrifices they made for the nation. They also highlighted their dedication and commitment throughout their years of service in various fields. They affirmed the significant role that the military retirees and veterans played in carrying the message of the Armed Forces, building the nation, defending its land, protecting its sovereignty, and striving relentlessly for its advancement and prosperity.

The military retirees expressed their gratitude for these invitations, recognizing their great importance and profound impact on them. They considered it an opportunity to reunite with their comrades from various places of work. They affirmed that they will remain loyal soldiers to their homeland and king. They also praised His Majesty the King’s historic stance towards the Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem and His Majesty’s support for the Palestinian brothers in their quest to achieve their legitimate rights and establish an independent state on their own soil.
