Early Thursday morning, the Border Guard forces clashed with armed groups of smugglers attempting to cross the northern border of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan within the area of responsibility of the Eastern Military Zone. The clashes resulted in the death of four smugglers, with the remaining individuals retreating into Syrian territory, after the groups attempted to cross the Kingdom's international border, taking advantage of the unstable weather conditions and fog covering the eastern military zone’s border area. Rules of engagement were applied, and the groups were repelled, leading to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, as well as an automatic weapon (Kalashnikov). The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities.
