Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Al-Huneiti, visited the Directorate of the Military Sports Union on Tuesday, where he was received by its director.Maj. Gen. Al-Huneiti was briefed on efforts to develop training programs for fitness assessments based on scientific principles aimed at ensuring the physical readiness of armed forces personnel. He stressed that proper physical preparation enhances combat readiness, allowing soldiers to perform their duties with high efficiency.During his tour of the directorate’s training fields, Al-Huneiti observed practical demonstrations of exercises conducted by trainees, including calisthenics, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), cardio, rope climbing, and CrossFit. These exercises, designed to build endurance, strength, and speed, aim to maximize participants' fitness levels and improve muscular and cardiovascular efficiency.The army chief also attended combat self-defense training sessions, as well as foundational sports programs, jiu-jitsu, and sparring exercises. These activities focus on enhancing participants' physical fitness and combat skills, ensuring they can operate effectively in challenging operational environments.At the end of the visit, which was attended by senior military officers, Al-Huneiti commended the high morale and dedication of the directorate’s personnel. He highlighted the achievements of Jordan armed forces athletes in local and international competitions, calling them a source of pride. He reaffirmed the army’s commitment to supporting sports across all units and formations.The Directorate of Military Sports Union was established in 1972 and is affiliated with the International Military Sports Council (CISM), the Arab Military Sports Federation, and the Jordan Olympic Committee.
