An official military source at the General Command of Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)- the Arab Army, said that the eastern military region, in coordination with the security services and the Anti-Narcotics Department within the area of responsibility, thwarted at Wednesday dawn, several attempts to infiltrate and smuggle from Syrian territory into Jordanian territory.

The source indicated that the rules of engagement were applied, which led to injuring a number of smugglers and retreating others into the Syrian territories. After searching the area, large quantities of narcotic substances were found, and the seized items were transferred to the competent authorities.

The source stressed that the JAF will deal with "full force and firmness" with any infiltration or smuggling attempts to protect Jordan's borders, and prevent tampering with the country's national security.
