An officer at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces announced that the Eastern Military Zone successfully thwarted an attempted drug smuggling operation early this morning along its front-line area of responsibility.According to the officer, Border Guard units operating within the Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected a cluster of balloons entering Jordanian territory. The balloons were intercepted and brought down inside Jordan, whereupon a search of the area revealed that they were equipped with rudimentary remote-control navigation systems and loaded with narcotic substances.The seized materials were handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation.He reaffirmed that JAF remain fully committed to utilizing all available capabilities and resources to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling, in order to safeguard the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
