An officer at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces reported that the Southern Military Zone successfully intercepted a drug smuggling attempt early this morning along its western front, within its designated area of responsibility. The narcotics were being transported via an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).The officer stated: “Border Guard units operating under the Southern Military Zone, in close coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected a UAV attempting to breach the border. Rules of engagement were immediately applied upon detection and tracking of the drone, which was subsequently engaged and downed inside Jordanian territory.”The seized narcotics were handed over to the relevant authorities for further processing.He reaffirmed that JAF remain fully committed to leveraging all capabilities and resources to prevent the infiltration of narcotics into the Kingdom and to safeguard national security.
