On Monday, Her Royal Highness Princess Aisha bint Al Hussein sponsored a ceremony commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Directorate of Military Women’s Affairs. The event was held at the Military Women’s Training Center and attended by a number of senior officers from the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army. The ceremony commenced with the Royal Anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an. In her address, the Director of Military Women’s Affairs expressed pride in the significant achievements made by women within the ranks of the armed forces across various operational, training, and logistical fields. She emphasized that the occasion is a moment of recognition and appreciation for three decades of loyal service and national contribution. Mr. Nicolas Burniat, UN Women Representative in Jordan, delivered remarks highlighting Jordan’s leadership in empowering women in the military, including in special operations roles. He noted that the presence of women in the armed forces was not only accepted, but actively supported by their male counterparts. He reaffirmed the commitment to continued partnership through the support of donor countries, which played a pivotal role in this progress. The event featured a variety of segments that reflected discipline, excellence, and professionalism, including a silent drill parade demonstrating precision and skill, a folkloric performance, as well as military competitions such as weapon assembly and disassembly, tug-of-war, and physical fitness demonstrations. Additionally, the Rapid Intervention Brigade and King Hussein Bin Ali Brigade performed a military parade, showcasing a high level of readiness and discipline. The Royal Military Police Command conducted a practical display demonstrating field response capabilities in emergency situations. The Royal Engineering Corps also presented a “robotics” segment, showcasing the integration of advanced technology in military duties and operations. The ceremony concluded with a theatrical performance by students from Al-Hussein Secondary School for Girls, and a musical presentation by the Jordan Armed Forces Band. As part of the event, a helicopter from the Royal Jordanian Air Force flew over the venue carrying the Jordanian flag in honor of the Kingdom’s Independence Day celebrations.
