On Sunday, the Jordanian Helicopter Unit/Congo 1 celebrated the 79th Independence Day of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at its mission site in the city of Goma. The event saw broad participation from international unit commanders, officers, and personnel of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

The ceremony began with the playing of the Jordanian national anthem, followed by a speech by the commander of the Jordanian unit. He expressed pride and deep appreciation for this national occasion, reaffirming the unit’s loyalty to the wise Hashemite leadership and its pivotal role in promoting international peace and security through active engagement in UN peacekeeping missions.

The celebration featured a variety of cultural performances, including traditional Jordanian folklore and music, reflecting the pride, high morale, and patriotic spirit of the unit’s personnel, and warmly received by military and civilian guests alike.

A documentary film was also screened, highlighting Jordan’s journey of development and its key role in supporting global peace efforts.

At the end, several international unit commanders delivered remarks thanking JAF for their kind invitation and for sharing the joy of Independence Day. They extended their best wishes for continued prosperity for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and further success for the Jordanian Armed Forces in their international and humanitarian missions.
