His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the deputy of His Majesty the King, conducted a follow-up on Thursday about the "Shield of the Nation" tactical exercise. The exercise was executed by the 40th King Hussein bin Talal Armored Brigade, a unit under the Jordanian Central Command.His Highness listened to briefings on the status of operational, training, and logistical matters as well as the underlying presumptions of the exercise from the Assistant for Operations and Training, Commander of the Central Military Region, and Director of Military Operations, all in the presence of Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.The exercise involved carrying out exercises that replicated real-world scenarios in which different types of armed forces participated in a defensive battle and where drones were used for both offensive and reconnaissance purposes in the theater of operations.With assistance from Air Force fighter and helicopter aircraft, the drill featured firing of medium artillery and anti-armor weapons, interspersed with engineering destruction, tank, and motorized infantry.The Honorable The participants' exceptional performance, high degree of professionalism and efficiency, and positive mood during the exercise were all commended by the Crown Prince.The purpose of the "Homeland Shield" exercise is to evaluate the participating formations' combat and operational preparedness as well as their capacity to organize, carry out, and make decisions under similar conditions in both conventional and unconventional operations and possible missions.Along with keeping up with technological advancements like contemporary warfare, it also seeks to improve coordination amongst the many branches of the armed forces, train commanders and personnel, and increase their effectiveness in operational and logistical domains.
