Organized by the "JODDB" in the presence of the Assistant for Operations and Training and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff's representative, the annual Armython 2024 international competition, in its second edition, focused on cybersecurity and encryption for armies and security agencies, came to an end on Tuesday at the Intercontinental Hotel in Amman. Twenty teams from thirteen friendly countries competed in the competition. In his speech, the director general of (JODDB) and chairman of the Higher Steering Committee of the Competition stated: "Today, we celebrate the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II's assumption of his constitutional powers, which coincides with the Silver Jubilee of the establishment of the Jordan Design and Development Center, and the conclusion of the Armithon 2024 competition activities." He continued by saying that the center was founded by royal decree to enhance Jordan's defense and security capabilities and supply defense technology to the armed forces and security services through Jordanian minds and hands conducting research, development, innovation, design, and manufacturing. "The Jordanian Center for Design and Development has worked to institutionalize this competition in its second edition, and made it a global interactive cyber platform in the field of cybersecurity," stated the JODDB representative in response. According to a well-organized scientific and useful experimental analysis, assisted the participating teams in identifying their strengths and weaknesses, which helped them strengthen their areas of strength and close the gaps that became apparent to them. The competition's current iteration was created in collaboration between the (JODDB) and Princess Sumaya University for Technology, and it was notable for having nine main axes and one hundred and eighty distinct challenges at all levels. These challenges were created by Jordanian experts and specialists who have won awards in international cybersecurity competitions. To test the participants' abilities—especially in light of the swift advancements in cybersecurity and information protection—the contestants engaged in a series of challenges over three days, including gathering information through social media platforms, data encryption, digital investigations, and problem-solving, hacking web systems, concealing information within multimedia, reverse engineering programs, hacking machines and devices, cloud storage, and real-world applications involving drones and their operating systems. The goal of the current competition is to produce solutions that meet security requirements, work continuously to improve and update products, and keep up with the rapid changes in cybersecurity that occur globally, as well as the rise in current threats and modern cyberattacks. At the end of the ceremony, guests viewed a film created by the Military Media Directorate that chronicled the Jordanian Design and Development Center's (JODBY) twenty-five-year development. The competition's outcomes were declared, and those deserving of rewards received them. First place went to the Moroccan MA-SEC team, second place went to the Jordanian DARK KNIGHTS team, and third place went to the Jordanian VIRTUALITY KNIGHTS team. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, senior officers and representatives of the security services and armed forces, ambassadors and military attachés, heads of public and private universities, and representatives of the competition's sponsoring businesses were present at the ceremony.
