June 1967 War Since the Arab army was able to stop its advance towards the West Bank in 1948, Israel has sought to occupy the rest of Palestine to expand its strategic depth and create a geographical space for its forces to make it easier for them to move and maneuver deeper, and since Israel has not been given a pretext to use it to justify the invasion of the West Bank, it has not been allowed to achieve its objectives and ambitions. The Israelis withdrew from Sinai in the spring of 1957, thus ending the tails of the Suez War from 29 October to 6/11/1956, since then Israel has been preparing to be able to strike quickly and decisively the Arab armies proving their entity in the Arab world, and has been conducting annual experiments in training its armies on how best to strike. Jordan had no doubt about Israel's desire to expand towards the West Bank, in a speech delivered by his late Majesty King Hussein on January 25, 67, which said, "The enemy's goal is now clear: the West Bank, then the East Bank, and then they expand into our Arab homeland and achieve their goals and ambitions." (As King Hussein declared shortly after the War of 67, "Israel's recent attack is not an example in itself, but part of Israel's policy of expansion, although Israel has in one way or another been able to appear as a small, unarmed state surrounded by Arab wolves).
