On Tuesday, the Directorate of Military Women’s Affairs at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army signed a cooperation agreement with the National Council for Family Affairs to establish institutional nurseries dedicated to the children of JAF personnel. The signing ceremony was attended by the Assistant for Administration and Manpower and the Director of Military Women’s Affairs.The agreement was signed on behalf of the Armed Forces by Brigadier General Khalil Al-Da’jah, Assistant Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Administration and Manpower, and on behalf of the National Council for Family Affairs by Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Al-Maqdadi, in the presence of the UN Women Representative and several officials from the specialized directorates involved in implementing the provisions of the agreement.The agreement aims to enhance women’s participation in the labor market by removing obstacles and providing a supportive work environment through the establishment of safe, well-equipped institutional nurseries at workplaces that meet the needs of targeted age groups. This will contribute to increasing women’s participation in the Jordan Armed Forces and enabling them to perform their duties and responsibilities effectively.It also seeks to develop the competencies and skills of female staff working in the nurseries, enhancing children’s overall development across multiple dimensions, and providing high-quality care in line with the latest global trends in early childhood development.Under the agreement, four institutional nurseries will be established in different locations, and a specialized training program will be implemented to prepare 30 childcare providers from among the JAF personnel. Additionally, a procedural and standards manual will be developed for operating institutional nurseries in compliance with approved regulations and instructions.This agreement comes within the framework of the project “Developing Institutional Capacities and Gender-Responsive Legal Frameworks to Strengthen Women’s Protection Mechanisms in Jordan 2025”, implemented by the National Council for Family Affairs with the support of UN Women, and based on the Jordanian National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security.
