Former Ambassador Dr. Adel Al-Adahilah emphasized that diplomacy is a tool for achieving national interests, protecting state sovereignty, enhancing security, and developing resources. It also serves as the state’s interface with the world, reflecting its image, identity, and values in international forums.This came during his lecture, delivered today, Wednesday, at the Royal Jordanian National Defense College (RJNDC), entitled “Diplomacy as an Element and Instrument of National Power”, to the participants of Defense Course No. 23, in the presence of the Commandant of the College, along with the Head and members of the directing staff.Dr. Al-Adaila explained that diplomacy is a means of crisis management through bilateral and multilateral negotiations, mediation, and the use of various soft power tools. It also serves as a channel for the exchange of scientific and medical expertise in responding to disasters and pandemics, in addition to managing humanitarian assistance and ensuring its delivery to affected areas.He added that Jordanian diplomacy has granted the Kingdom a global presence that surpasses its economic and demographic capabilities and its small geographic size. Jordan has relied on its distinguished diplomacy and international reputation as a moderate state, employing “bilateral diplomacy” to strengthen relations with countries worldwide, alongside “multilateral diplomacy,” which has secured Jordan an active international role, as reflected by its election to the UN Security Council on three occasions throughout its history.At the end of the lecture, an open discussion took place, during which the guest lecturer answered the participants’ questions and inquiries.
