The Southern Military Zone thwarted, on Monday, an attempt to smuggle a quantity of narcotic substances carried by a drone, on its western frontier within its area of responsibility.

An officer at the General Command of JAF said: "The Border Guard forces in the Southern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics using a drone that tried to cross the border illegally. The rules of engagement were applied, and the drone’s cargo was brought down within Jordanian territory. The seized materials were then transferred to the relevant authorities."

He explained that this operation is part of the ongoing efforts to counter smuggling operations that exploit modern technologies, such as drones, to transport narcotic substances. He emphasized that the JAF are working with full strength and determination, utilizing all available resources to combat such operations and prevent infiltration and smuggling, with force if necessary, to maintain the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
