An officer in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army, stated that the Eastern Military zone, in coordination with the military security services and the Anti-Narcotics Department, thwarted, at dawn today, Sunday, and within its area of responsibility, attempts at infiltration and smuggling on the eastern borders of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

He indicated that attempts to cross the border continued since the early hours of dawn, as more than one group tried to cross, taking advantage of the unstable weather conditions and the spread of fog on the eastern border front. The rules of engagement were applied, which led to the killing of one of the smugglers and the retreat of the rest into the Syrian interior, and the seized items in his possession were transferred to the competent authorities.

He stressed that the Jordanian Armed Forces are continuing to harness their various capabilities and potentials to prevent infiltration and smuggling by force to maintain the security and stability of Jordan.
