The Edifice of The Martyrs of The Jordanian Arab Army in The Northern Region The Edifice of The Martyrs of The Arab Army/ The North The Supreme Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces, His Majesty King Abdullah II, directed the establishment of an edifice commemorating the martyrs of the Arab Army who died in defense of the dear homeland at this site in 1970, and of the Syrian Arab territory in the Golan in 1973. This edifice was established under the directives of His Majesty the Supreme Commander, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein. It was inaugurated under the patronage and honor of His Majesty on the date of His Majesty's 41ST birthday on 30/1 of 2003. An Introduction: This edifice was set up on a total area of 34 donums next to the campus of the Jordan University of Science and Technology at the intersection of the roads leading to Irbid, Mafraq, and Ar-Ramtha. It is the same site that witnessed the mobilization of the units of the King Hussein bin Talal Royal Armored Brigade / 40 in 1970 Edifice Sections: 1-The main edifice building, which the Directorate of Housing Establishment & Military Works supervised its implementation and drew up its engineering designs, and it consists of the following: 1- The structure of the edifice: The structure of the edifice is divided into the following: The drawing area (plaza): and includes the masts bearing the flags of the combat formations and units that participated in the battles, and the site for the honor guard parade. Both sides of the ceremony area are surrounded by samples of the weapons that were used in the fighting. In the rear, along the front yard, is a Hawker Hunter fighter jet. The visitors’ seating area which includes two rows of (gold star) trees surrounded by (24) benches made of pine wood and stone slabs. The courtyards of the edifice are divided into: (1) The front courtyard (2) The middle courtyard (3) The rear courtyard of the edifice, which includes the area of the (2) bronze sculptures, in addition to the murals above the verses of the Holy Quran about martyrdom, and under the verses are the names of the fallen martyrs in defense of the sacred soil. The kingdom’s emblem made of bronze is above the middle bronze mural, highlighting the cohesion of the civilian and military members of society. 2- A side road to the upper area of the edifice’s structure, with parking spaces for (5) cars to serve the VIP visitors, which the situation necessitates their entry from the side area, and it also provides an appropriate entrance for people with special needs. 3- A white - stone front wall. 4- A metal fence that surrounds the entire area of the land. 5- Service sections below the outer areas.
