A cultural masterpiece and a national museum that records the stages of Jordan’s modern history. It was erected in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves in defense of the homeland and its people. The museum contains exhibits on the history of the Jordanian armed forces since the Great Arab Revolt until our present days through exhibits of weapons, materiel, uniform, vehicles, and equipment. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, its armed forces, and its security apparatus are proud of the dear sacrifices made by their sons when the martyrs of its men shed their pure blood on the soil of the dear homeland and offered their lives cheap for the sake of Allah and the glory of the homeland, just as their blood mixed with the blood of their Arab brothers from the brotherly Arab armies allover Al-Quds Al-Sharif and on the land of Golan. Historical Profile: The edifice was officially inaugurated during the reign of His Majesty the late King Al-Hussein bin Talal on 7/25/1977 AD, then it was renovated and developed, and it was re-inaugurated during the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein on 12/12/2016 AD. Location: The Edifice of the Martyr is located on one of Amman’s hills in Al-Hussein Youth City, adjacent to Al - Shahid Street. Edifice design: With Jordanian experience and thought, the edifice building was designed by a Jordanian engineer, and with the skills and hands of Jordanian men from the Royal Engineering Corps, the project was carried out in cooperation with local companies. The building of the edifice was designed based on a religious spiritual idea in a meticulous and thoughtful manner. The visitor begins his visit to the edifice from the ceremonial entrance that gradually ascends until he reaches the memorial square. In the same square and at the entrance to the edifice is the tree of life, the blessed olive tree, which symbolizes the continuation of the martyr’s life as the greenery of this tree. The external shape of the Edifice of the Martyr can’t slip the mind of the visitor. Its idea was inspired by the beautiful textiles that cover the honored Kaaba, as the shape of its building on the outside resembles the shape of the honored Kaaba, and on its outer walls on the four sides of the top are Gold plated engraved Quranic verses glorifying the martyrs and exhorting martyrdom.
